Interview with writer Joan Walters:

Matthew: Why should people read/watch this story?

Joan: This story is about faith, family and getting your priorities straight and will tug at your heart strings. I think it will cause us to pause and examine our own lives, too.

Matthew: How long have you been writing stories?

Joan: I wrote this story in 1998 and am now trying to expand it into a novel.

Matthew: What movie have you seen the most in your life?

Joan: I have seen the 6 Star Wars movies and the Lord of the Rings trilogy the most.

Matthew: What artists would you love to work with?

Joan: Erin Cottrell, Erin Krakow, Daniel Lissing, Melissa Gilbert, and Logan Bartholomew.

Matthew: How many stories have you written?

Joan: I have written 1 story and 1 poem for now.

Matthew: Ideally, where would you like to be in 5 years?

Joan: In 5 years, I would love to have finances to pay my bills, but be able to have plenty of time to write which I don’t have now because I have to work full-time. I would love to develop a series like my favorite author Janette Oke.

Matthew: Describe your process; do you have a set routine, method for writing?

Joan: I guess I see the story in my mind like a movie and then write down what I see.

Matthew: Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

Joan: I have a Praise and Worship dance and sign language ministry I use a church. I am a choreographer and dancer as well.

Matthew: What influenced you to submit to the WILDsound Festival?

Joan: I thought WILDsound would be a good venue to showcase my short story. I am very proud of it and I
think it has a good message.

Matthew: Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?

Joan: Write what you know and love.
