FAIRY STORIES FOR REAL, Poetry Reading by Ginnie Siena Bivona
Poetry performed by actress VAL COLE
Matthew Toffolo interview Ginnie Siena Bivona:
Matthew: What is the theme of your poem?
Ginnie: The basic idea, I suppose, is the age old classic concept of finding the perfect lover and living happily ever after. And sometimes (I’m told) that happens…and sometimes not.
Matthew: How would you like people to respond when they read or watch your poetry reading?
Ginnie: Well, I hope they like it! And I hope it gives them a giggle or two.
Matthew: How long have you been writing poetry?
Ginnie: Since I was 42. One Sunday afternoon I wrote the first poem I’d ever written, it just spilled out onto the page. Now…next month I’ll be celebrating my 84th birthday…so I guess I could honestly say it’s been a long damn time.
Matthew: Do you have a favorite poet?
Ginnie: Oh dear…Ogden Nash, Walt Whitman, Nathan Brown, Ted Kooser, Elizabeth Barrett Browning (you have to be madly in love to really get her work) And of course, Sappho. Because she’s the first woman poet…that we know of.
Matthew: What influenced you to submit to WILDsound and have your poetry performed by a professional actor?
Ginnie: It’s easy to do, not costly and you do a wonderful job!! What’s not to love about that?
Matthew: Do you write other works? scripts? Short Stories? Etc..?
Ginnie: Yes…My first book is titled Notes From a Chameleon, Sort of a Memoir, my novel is Ida Mae Tutweiler & the Traveling Tea Party (it was made into a Hallmark movie titled Bound by A Secret). I have a humorous cookbook; The Seductive Chef, A Cookbook & More For Lovers, a collection of short stories; The Secret Lives of Ordinary Women and my latest release is a collection of poetry titled Reality Check, The Work of a Part-Time Poet. AND…I am working with a working with an amazing producer to bring my TV series Tea Room Tales to the screen…it’s a humorous, fantasy, mystery, kind of fun thing that takes place in a beautiful little Italian town. Matthew: What is your passion in life?
Ginnie: Whatever I’m doing at the moment!
