Watch the 140 Character Short Story – SURPRISE:
Get to know writer Neha Malude:
1) What is your very short story about?
It’s all about narrating something ordinary in an as unusual way as possible so that the reader is pleasantly surprised!
2) What motivated you to write this story and submit it to the festival?
I love writing and I want it to reach as many people as possible. I also loved the idea that you could convert it into a short film and I think that’s what really pushed me into it.
3) What movie have you seen the most in your life?
I am a sucker for rom com movies and I think my favourite has to be You’ve Got Mail. But I’ve also watched The Mummy umpteen number of times!
4) How many scripts and stories have you written?
I think I must have written over 150 stories on Twitter and probably around 20 short stories.
5) What artists would you love to work with?
I’m not sure what kind of artists you mean – actors or singers or both – my current favourites are Ed Sheeran and Maroon 5.
6) What is your passion in life?
Writing, for sure!
7) Any tips for other writers who want to write a 140 character short story?
I don’t think I’m qualified to give advice to writers but I’d say keep it simple and try to surprise the reader – there’s nothing more difficult than to take a reader unawares in 140 characters!

Not sure why, but this little story captured my attention … so much possible backstory in such a small space:)
