We Are All Crushed Diamonds
by Sarasvati
I’m so lucky
That I never knew, the love
Everyone seems to be looking for
Sometimes I catch myself wondering
What that type of love is like
A little bit
Here and there
Yes, I cry
What can I say?
For a love boxed in is not truly real
A love that belongs only to a pair must be sweet
Yet
Of a lesser quality than can be found
The Cubic Zirconia of the Diamond world, if you will
True love lies quietly in the midst of pain
Of all types
So quiet that many times it is overlooked
It stays intact, with no dependence on another individual
The real diamonds are crushed in tiny pieces
I wanted to learn
So I lived my life crushed into tiny pieces
Mixed into the Asphalt
And we all go on
Building new roads, going our own ways
Various stages of happiness and unhappiness
The top tier of love belongs to all
I could only know this by a life filled with loneliness
So grateful for the chance
To clearly see the truth
I’m so happy for the sadness beneath my eyes
And I laugh
While I still wait foolishly for the lesser kind
Of love
My heart cries
And cubic zirconia tears drip
Onto my cheek
I watch them fall
And by the time they hit the floor
They turn into the real thing
Worth a fortune to a wise man

Beautiful poem. Interestingly – is it better to love a little or not have loved at all?
