Tall Dark Shadow
by Lashanna Bryant

I see this tall dark shadow on the wall,

From what I can get a glimpse of it,

As the cars come driving by,

Flashing their head lights on the concrete.

I see its tall shape,

As if to resemble strength and or bravery

Like a warrior fighting a dragon,

Or a solider in war but I have no ounce of strength or bravery.

I did not deserve it,

This tall shadow that created strength,

Like these concrete walls to be shelter and hold things together,

Could not possibly reflect my identity.

I could just rip this shadow off the wall,

Or maybe it will just walk to find it’s true owner.

The night starts to cast over the sky,

The streets are quiet and the cars start to disappear,

The shadow has vanished,

The mysterious strength has disappeared and what little hope it would’ve spread on me is now gone.
