Genre: Crime/Dark
The Current Crime
by Leslie Moon
Foul, the odor greets me
at the very edge of night
before first shards of day
death chose to beat the light
too early duty calls
none would choose to go
death’s body has the right
most rather not would know
“what were the clues?” you query
the usual mayhem, no remorse
but is it really why or how
a killer takes its course?
there must be more than blood thirst
I gently pinch my nose
waterfall of murders
in our region it now grows
another behind bars
but I am on the move
another will be dead soon
unless I the prod remove
waders and I struggle
tide rushes on full steam
foaming with disaster
in water evil breeds
