THE COLOR OF MY SKIN
by Sonya Marshall
The color of my skin
runs deep beneath my veins;
The essence of my being is in me,
but we are all just the same.
The color of my skin
should not be a factor of my worth;
Itshould not be the reason for your persecution
It should not be my hell on this earth.
The color of my skin
is many shades of brown;
all races should be perceived as beautiful,
not the other way around.
The color of my skin
Should bring no malice to the heart.
God will never give a reason for anyone to hate
nor a reason for anyone to start.
The color of my skin
Is the color of my skin.
It should hold no judgment from the outside
only the qualities that lies within.
The color of my skin
Will not be a factor in the end.
God will have the final say.
I LOVE THE SKIN I’M IN!
