Genre: dark, depression, mental health, life,
Curtains leak
by Kelly Rice
Reflecting
Light austere
The television
Lay on mute
The voices
Don’t disappear
Down the hallway lay multiple rooms
With things in them I forgot to use
If I keep the light off in the entry room
It will keep from people coming in
And I can’t keep cutting into things
And letting on that I’m not scared
Sometimes I lay under the sheets
For hours
Night into day
Into night again
Listening to someone outside
Maybe on the ceiling
Speaking softly though
Until I’m bulletproof
In a bony labyrinth
Restitute my inner demons
To newer higher beings
I’m shifting kneading squealing
My back is on fire
Stop berating
I’m straining to think because
All you say to me is
“You know
It smells like
Cigarettes in here”
