Watch Poetry Reading of THE THINGS WE DO TO FISH:
Poetry performed by actor Val Cole
Get to know poet Paul Tapp:
1) What is the theme of your poem?
I guess its how unthinkingly cruel we are to animals.
2) How would you like people to respond when they read or watch your poetry reading?
Do some hard thinking on us and them. To perhaps at least show some compassion when we haul a fish from its world as we might like an alien to be kind should we be abducted, processed and eaten.
3) How long have you been writing poetry?
Been writing and burning poetry since I was a kid. Maybe 60 years.
4) Do you have a favorite poet?
Alfred Lord Tennyson
5) What influenced you to submit to WILDsound and have your poetry performed by a professional actor?
Its presence. Poetry is a private business. You write it and keep it to yourself. Poetry is a state of mind that manifests in writing down compressed thoughts. Poetry writing is cathartic. WILDsound is a collective of like-minded thinkers. We who write and secrete our deepest thoughts no longer feel so alone. WILDsound is more than sound. It is light. A new bright star in the eternal heavens that beckons travellers. To hear somebody else read one of my poems will be a little piece of epiphany speaking from the ether.
6) Do you write other works? scripts? Short Stories? Etc..?
I write what needs to be written at the time. I am a retired investigative journalist. My research and writing self-published books, and posting interviews onto the web have caused a Commission Of Inquiry and next month a coronial inquest gets underway into a woman missing for 46 years. I have just self-published a 72-chapter epic novel that if ever published might help bring an end to fox-hunting. Am working on a fanciful novel that brings mankind together and in awe of an inexplicable series of events that has bedevilled philosophical thinking since man first penned the first word. I have written many poems and am at present collating them for self-publication (online Print On Demand)
7) What is your passion in life?
My greatest passion in life would be to see a screen-adaption of my book that sent a message to a contumacious police culture…’you didn’t get away with it’.
