Watch the 140 Character Short Story: REMEMBERING
Get to know writer Shire Lyon:
1) What is your very short story about?
It’s about the first time you kiss someone, when it’s sort of unexpected, unsolicited…when you just feel like you really connect with someone and you don’t even know why
2) What motivated you to write this story and submit it to the festival?
I love writing, so I always enjoy submitting work. I was especially fascinated by this contest because you have such a small amount of words to convey a deep experience.
3) What movie have you seen the most in your life?
I always love to watch movies more than once if I enjoy them. I’ve probably seen Gone With The Wind more times than any other movie. I love it’s romanticism and I also love the Victorian era. I was always in love with closing my eyes and picturing I was a rich Southern belle who went to balls and stuff like that.
4) How many scripts and stories have you written?
I’m not really sure. I’ve only written one or two scripts, but I’ve written a lot of stories and poetry. I started writing when I was about 11, and I haven’t stopped.
5) What artists would you love to work with?
There are lots of artists I would love to work with for many reasons. The list is probably far to long for here but I’ll list a few: Seth MacFarlane, Sir Patrick Stewart, Amanda Tapping and Jenna Coleman.
6) What is your passion in life?
My passion in life is to make people feel strong emotions and explore their imagination. I know that sounds rather cliched, but I love writing because you can give such a gift to someone. You can make them laugh, cry, experience so many things and a good piece of writing can stick with someone for the rest of their life. I also love video, photography and art for the very same reason. I usually write, but I do like to dabble in other art forms that convey the same type of thing.
7) Any tips for other writers who want to write a 140 character short story?
Make it personal. If you can feel it, then you can give that experience to someone else. A story doesn’t have to be pages long to make someone understand an emotion.
