The United States in Escape From Plain Middle is made up of sections of the country owned by a few very rich Oligarchs. The Oligarchs that own and run Plain Middle are Kochlike and are the ones sponsoring a baseball skills event and then World Series like game using players owned by Plain Middle from all over the US that the brothers have kidnapped versus the remainder of the world’s baseball players.

Get to know the writer:

What is your screenplay about?

It’s kind of a protest script where John Carpenter’s Snake Plissken goes back in to a divided United States to thwart Oligarchs from keeping baseball players as slaves, playing the game of ball just for them and them alone and their gambling conferences with other Oligarchs world wide…sort of the situation we have brewing after the election in the US and the consolidation of all culture and wealth by a few Oligarchs worldwide. I know that in the past Snake has had to work for the Government of the US in getting back a President [Escape From New York] or getting back a super weapon in Escape From LA…Snake was forced to work for the United States Government in those and he accomplishes his mission but also beats the government.

In Escape From Plain Middle Snake is still working with what little bit is left of the US Government but this time to get his small but growing Still/distillery back in operation instead of having criminal charges dropped. There can’t be criminal charges if there is no US government any longer. Alcohol/adult beverages are in short supply since along with Oligarchy, Theocracy seems to have taken hold in the world as Marx said as the opiate of the people. I set this up in a prior Escape From I Titled Escape From Florida where he is asked to go to a Florida that is run by a diabolical madman who has kidnapped the US governments [such as it is] Secretary of State and get her back. I am reminded of our present President Elect when I think of Cliff Robertson character in Escape Fro L.A except he is no Theocrat, yet but may use Theocracy to rule the masses..

The United States in Escape From Plain Middle is made up of sections of the country owned by a few very rich Oligarchs. The Oligarchs that own and run Plain Middle are Kochlike and are the ones sponsoring a baseball skills event and then World Series like game using players owned by Plain Middle from all over the US that the brothers have kidnapped versus the remainder of the worlds baseball players. Japan for instance has quite a few, most countries have just a few players. One section of the US is Plain Middle and it is made up of North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma and most of the northern Western States such as Wyoming, Idaho and Montana. Another section owned and run by one Oligarch is Bloombergia which is made up of Maryland and Washington DC along with all the New England States and is increasingly taking over the Rust Belt states such as Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri. Bloombergia is the nearest area to acting like the old United States. There is the LEFT Coast made up of California, Oregon and Washington along with Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada and Colorado. Texas is an independent area and the South is unaffiliated really but at one time was congregating around the mad man who OWNED Florida. That was in my first Escape, Escape From Florida. At one point in Plain Middle Snake is riding a Buffalo and he say “Thanks Ed!” His sidekick in Escape from Florida was the ghost of Edward Leedskalnin. who created and single-handedly built Coral Castle in Florida. Ed helps Snake get the kidnapped Secretary of State away from the madman President of Florida in the PRIOR Escape from I wrote and Snake in Plain Middle knows he is still being helped by the spirit of Ed.

The former United States, states that make up Plain Middle are states with the fewest population in them to begin with and they have become even less populated and are an oil pipeline and corporate agriculture slush pool. Corporate agriculture is charged with DESIGNING grains and other foods that will thrive in soil, despoiled by leaking oil pipelines and watered with water made toxic by the same oil leakage. Oklahoma is adeptly depicted as working alive with earthquakes due to oil retrieving practices. Yet, Native Americans are still living in the area and are calling on their ancestors and spirits of the land to revive the country and destroy the people who are turning it into a wasteland.

The biggest population is the militia…roving bands of armed militiamen, aimlessly marauding from the remaining desperately poor population who are allowed a few jobs in the corporate agriculture mills and oil fields. Everything is so mechanized. Also, there are the Buffalo, loved and also owned by the brothers who keep this area consolidated with the fear of the witless militiamen who pirate and terrorize the population in to knowing their place and obeying their meager existence.

I might someday if I live long enough go back and write the two Escape Froms’ I have written in to book form and make the character a Snake Plisskin type character but change his name to General Owl Owlinski or something like that and then he would say things like you can call me Owl or that’s Mr. Owlinski to you and of course he will have a tat of an owl on his chest.

I have so many other things I am writing on, this is probably the last revisit to the Escapes…after all we seem to living in Escape times for real and there is no Snake Plisskin to come and rescue us from the tyrannical Oligarchs. We just thought the government was bad.

Apologies for this lengthy and disjointed “treatment” but there’s that.

What genres does your screenplay under?

SyFy, dystopian, Action/Thriller

Why should this screenplay be made into a movie?

I don’t know that it should. Hopefully some day I will write it and the other Escape, Escape From Florida in book form. Maybe I can sell a few to finance and produced one of the other many scripts I have written. They would be very current event-y for what is happening in this country right now.

How would you describe this script in two words?

Rescue me!

What movie have you seen the most times in your life?

Cabaret with the Jurassic Parks, Jeeper Creepers 1 and 2, Van Helsing, the Underworld Franchise in close pursuit.

How long have you been working on this screenplay?

Since 2014

How many stories have you written?

Lots! Scripts about 10 or 12.

What motivated you to write this screenplay?

The Political environment our nation is in then and even worse now.

What obstacles did you face to finish this screenplay?

None as I am interpreting the word “obstacle”.
Both Escape From Florida and Escape From Plain Middle followed in pretty much easy succession.

Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

I don’t know most of the passion has been driven out of me by the crucible of our political system but I could get very passionate about being able to move to and live in Australia or Canada…anywhere, where Democracy was still practiced and lived. I love the idea that Australia has a law that you must vote and they have no electoral college.

Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?

Are you kidding? I have yet to sell a screenplay or even to just donate one that was made in to a movie…64 year old who can look forward to no Medicare and privatized Social Security and failing health that will need to work til they die, so I would not be a very good source of advice on anything
