Crazy Boy
by R.Shanelle

Hey crazy boy why you acting like that
You talk funny, you walk funny why you acting so black
Angry boy why you so mad and mean mugging so hard
Paramount pictures should buy your story you who are nothing without God
You should be happy! Freedom is ringing you’re free at last
Yeah! Give them your story so the bootleggers can bootleg it and the producers can lace a soundtrack
Nutty Professor, Big Momma’s House, Madea’s Family Reunion, Color Purple and that crazy black boy
That sounds like a groupie in his myspace video blog yet he’s telling the truth boy
What can I say he gets attached like a pit bull that has tasted blood?
With jaws of steel that is a metaphor representing the stereotypes of society that detain my black brotha like the hard cold grip of his past, the hood
He’s like a five-disc c.d changer be careful what button you push b/c you don’t know what you’re going to get
Don’t let him drown, you who he looks up to, he’s going to drown in misery as a baby who can’t swim
You call yourself a prophet prophecy to his dry bones that lay in the heat of life smoldering and withering, prophecy the breath of life
Hey crazy boy we’re praying for you yet we’re getting joy at your expense laughing hysterically on the inside
Don’t you know, o wicked generation, that the seven eyes of God sees your seventy times seven evil spirits yet you sit and paste your poison all over the sanctuary
Vengeance is the Lord’s! How can you who are wicked speak something good I look evil lurks but shows your face…….hmmmm when I would do good evil is always present!
With tainted love he listens to the music disregarding the testimony of the waterfall
He pack his bags and waits by the door singing “Since Jesus Came Into My Life” (music stops) hello sorry my phone dropped the call (darn Sprint)
The white man in his white coat is coming to label me mentally unstable a danger to others, a danger to myself
One slip of my faith as I fall on my face but they don’t have a heaven or a hell to put me in
They come to me trying to make me believe something is wrong with me. Cunning! Coy
They said the same thing to Jesus as He said “Destroy this temple and I will raise it in 3 days!” and look at him (laugh) crazy boy

No Money? No Problem!
by Kathy Figueroa

I need a vacation
But don’t have a car
Don’t have much money
So I can’t travel far

Once upon a time
I made a good buck
But things can happen
That change your luck

So, with the sunlight streaming
Through the window pane
Instead of my loss
I’ll think of my gain

I’ll remember it’s good to be here
In my big easy chair
‘Cause it’s not always comfortable
In that world, out there

If, at faraway places
I still want to look
I’ll just stick my nose
In a travel book

I’ll save my few dollars
To pay my bills down
If I want to feel like a tourist
I’ll wear my sunglasses
While shopping, downtown

Maybe I’ll stop at a restaurant
To see what they’re charging for food
Then go home and make lunch
And feel in a good mood

But not before I pick up a bottle
Of suntan lotion
(If the price is within reach)
Because the fragrance
Reminds me of the ocean
And lounging on the beach

Yes, I can lounge
In my big easy chair
With no worries about sunburn
Or what swimsuit to wear

No money?
No problem!
Where there’s a will there’s a way
Anyone can have a holiday!

And the beauty of it is
You don’t even have to leave home
So, on that note
I’ll end this poem

A poem
by Domeem Raad

So we are going

Away from the euphoria of unknowns

Not to Self
Not to God

To conquer marine phoenix

Gazing into empty pool eyes

From space , from space , from space

Greeting to healthy ways

With the flip of a heart

Poetically, we clean our feet up

As we uproot of rootlessness

Belongs to the origin

From where
To the same place
From where
To the same place
From where…
