From my umbilical string
I rued my un-rooting and
Unravelling to the world
Un-tethered I went, arm to arm
Sigh to sigh; “You’re our daughter”

ELEGY à DOMINIQUE (How could I forget), Poetry by Brigitte Badier
How could I forget the glance of thine eyes
When with darted compliments they teased me
Dumb they left me, but now they tender lies
In my memory, setting life to thee.
