Fred the Llama.
by
Alia Sheikh, England

Why did Fred lick the teacups

and wear

the teapot on his head?

Well, Fred was a Llama,

and he liked tea.

Also maybe his head was cold.

Maybe he wanted, today of all days, to look special.

Maybe it was a defence against mind rays.

Maybe it was Art.

We’ll never know.

But when he climbed the steps

to old McCavity’s barn

And stood on the roof to greet the first day of summer

He looked Majestic

Silhouetted against the clear blue Yorkshire sky

Gargling his song into the world
