My Beloved Night Sky
by Reinaldo Buitron Jr.
You might believe I don’t think of you.
Some say it’s true, and others don’t even have a clue.
Let me tell you nothing, but the truth about the real you.
Through my darkest hour, you are my light.
Through my toughest moments, you are my jolt.
The sky remains blue and when I’m about to give up, I think of you.
I think of your face and your smile.
And before feeling inside of me, an empty space about to be consumed by this world full of vile, you make me smile. You make me feel inspired. You make me feel safe. You make me feel like I can make it alive through the end of every day.
You’re always on my mind and from time to time I say to myself that love is blind.
Until I realize I am blinded by you and everything that you do.
And oh! I do, I do think of you. Just like the the stars think about the darkness when the sun is upon the sky.
It’s the kind of thinking that reveals that without the night no stars would exist.
And as of my existence, it would be that of a star in the daytime if you wouldn’t exist.
So I thank you, because with you all I have are sighs of bliss in this society full of dismiss.
Now believe. Believe that I think of you. Believe in yourself. Believe in that always and forever.
Now, just like the stars say farewell to the nighttime at every sunrise, I say goodbye to you, so as of now I do not exist.
