The Carnival
by Guessella Daniels
One day when I was young I watched a carnival
beyound the boundaries of my confines
sitting on a tree trunk
Out of curiosity being rhapsodic about his stunning
red color constrasting with his black facial mask and red bill
Moving beyond the boundaries of my confines
I asked my mum is a red bird a red bird
She looked at me and smile then told everyone else
in the house
They laughed as they absorbed what was said
All I wanted was an answer to my inquiry
Moving beyond the boundaries of my confines
As a ten year old because of the brilliant red color
I wanted to know whether the carnival was red
T throughout his entire body outside and inside
All I wanted was an answer to my inquiry
Moving beyond the borders of my confines
As a ten year old my inquiry was important to me
Mum had no answer to my words
She did not understand my expression
Mum could not grasp what I was searching for
All I wanted to know was the carnival completely red
Throughout his entire body
Moving beyond the bordersof my confines
