This week’s writing festival event is a showcase of nostalgia. We will be performing an original “Magnum PI” screenplay. Plus an original sitcom pilot, a short screenplay, and a full length Stage Play.
Here are the details of the works that will be performed.
#1 – Full Stage Play – BEYOND THE GLASS by Francis DiClemente
Genre: Drama
Synopsis:
Beyond the Glass is a two-act dramatization of Edward Hopper’s painting Nighthawks. It is a conceptual, philosophical work driven by one of the diner’s customers, Ray, who wrestles with an existence he abhors but cannot alter.
#2 – Fan Fiction TV Spec – MAGNUM P.I. by Lew Ritter
Genre: Action, Adventure, Crime
Synopsis:
The adventures of a Hawaii based private investigator in this original screenplay.
#3 – TV Pilot Sitcom – REC’D by Chris Courtney Martin
Genre: Comedy
Synopsis:
Petey McDade is the big woman on campus– well, the campus recreation center. She and her two best friends navigate the rec’s employee culture, college academia and their own personal growth as women while interacting with a colorful cast of characters.
#4 – Short Screenplay – LEROY’S DREAM by Diarra McCormick
Genre: Drama
Synopsis:
This film is set in present-day New Orleans and follows LEROY BROWN, a disgruntled hardworking father who holds down several jobs to provide for his combative alcoholic wife, SONYA and baby girl TINA. Their inability to communicate poses problems on their marriage, and puts a damper on his true ambitions in life. Just when he is about to give up, the strength of his bond with his daughter Tina inspires him to try again and pursue his passion of becoming a world famous painter one step at a time.
