CANCER
by C.M. Krishack

Like a thief in the night,

you come into our lives.

One minute we are able,

the next we are condemned.

Your methods are not restricted,

your victims are not selective,

you are merciless and forbidding,

callous and bold.

You take no prisoners,

yet you leave us imprisoned.

You attack with no sympathy,

you leave lives in shambles.

Hearts forever shattered,

words never articulated,

families forever broken-

you are our adversary

yet never motivated.

You leave us speechless,

but screaming till the end.

Screams of “Why?”

Screams of “Help!”

But our voices are just memories

left behind.

The essence of those lost

are left comforting the living.

Those that have met you

will live to remember you.

Your name is unspoken

but whispered in the lives

you have claimed-

Cancer.

DISCRIMINATION, Poetry by Rashika Roberts

Genre: Pain, Sadness

DISCRIMINATION by Rashika Roberts

The dull ache moves slowly from my head to my chest;
Thumping thumping, the sound never misses a beat.

I am warm inside, but feel so cold;
I shiver with fear as the rain drips from my face.

Falling with weakness;
my strength lies in my humble heart.

Filled with sadness;
a new dawn is near.

The pain is not gone.
The hurt is not over.

In time my head will lift higher than the clouds.
Every minute promises healing.
Life goes on.

Locked In
by Samantha K Collinson

Exploding lights, raindrops

Hitting electric fields.

I run out, dancing;

Entwined, holding his hand.

The sky, extravagant,

Fireworks waving, rainbow

Colours rippling.

I look at him, filled with

Emotion. Heart throbbing,

Body quaking.

I feel the rhythm,

Absorbing. We run into

Elysium.

Twisting and turning,

The music rising,

Vibrations quickening.

The night stands still,

No time limit, no loss,

Just us.

I make a wish to the floating

Flowers, rising to the beat.

I close my eyes – we kiss,

I wake.

Walls pale and thin,

White explodes inwards

Towards the hospital bed.

I lay, no movement,

He holds my hand.

Time takes over – once more,

Tick after tick.

I Promise, Poetry by Sky Boivin

Genre: Strength, Suicide, Depression, Sadness, Dark, Death

I Promise
by Sky Boivin

I stopped by your grave yesterday.
I was just passing through.
As I got closer to the cemetery,
I pulled in and drove up the driveway.
I found the faucet with no problem.
And I found you with no problems.
I wiped off the grass clippings.
I put my fingers to my lips and
Then touched your name lightly.
It feels like a lifetime.
But, it has only been a little over four months.
Has it really only been that long?
And yet, it still feels like yesterday;
That my heart was ripped out to the news of you going away.
It hurts a little less each day.
But, there are other days that just feel worse.
I know it will take time.
I know I have to keep fighting.
Your profile pops up on my events each and every time;
These are the days that the knife twists just that much deeper.
I know I will survive this;
Somehow, in time.
I promise that I will Always Keep Fighting
Through this and through life.

But, seeing your name on the stone,
In the ground.
That.
That is more real.
That says I am no more.
I don’t want to be that.
I don’t want that fate.
Not yet.
There is too much still to do.
I promise that I will
Always Keep Fighting.
Keep fighting through this;
And through anything else that comes my way.

No Title, Poetry by Richard M Knittle Jr.

Genre: Dark, Sadness

No Title
by Richard M Knittle Jr.

Crises and confusion
In my heart mind and soul
I am battle inside of me
for what
I don’t know
Emotions running wild
Like I’m fourteen years
Old wanting love but
Afraid needing friends
Then push away
Writing epic love poems
Like I know love alone
In my mind
As my heart beat
Goes cold you can’t
Cure what is not
There as these
words keep flowing out
Of control am I happy or sad
Am I in sorrow or glad
Pick one or even two
Put not a hundred
or two thousand and two
I am human
That has a broken heart
I can’t filter these
emotions like i used
Too I have been weakend
By depression that i
Fight For you all
And that battles are epic
In my heart and my head
They PTSD I am broken
Forever that is what they
Said a disorder from
A tragic accident or break up or
War or death is this living
I would rather be dead
Than alone in the dark fighting
Battles that don’t exist
Over and over never
Peace in my head but
I know that I do
Help a few keep going
And I am solider
That will keeping fighting
Not just for me
But for anyone listening
So that they know that you
Don’t fight this alone someone
Does care I have fought
It forever and I will be there
To help you get through
The darkness and pain
To live a life in the sunlight and out
Of the rain a beacon of light for you to see
Someone does love you and that would be me

Papercut, Poetry by Rodolfo Po III

Genre: Love, Lost, Sadness

Papercut
by Rodolfo Po III

And suddenly, I can no longer sing
our song anymore.
Its rhythm has lost its way from me,
the heartstrings have been plucked too often,
and my mouth can not utter
the words and lyrics
I had once marked on your lips.

Every trace of me on you, gone
and hidden underneath
the patches of makeup you never wore.
Every trace of me and you,
lost along the way of the creation
of this tragic symphony,
and time.
Time has burnt the parchments,
and smoldered all the rocks
we carved our verses on,
into pieces.

Having left not a single trace,
having left me to rewrite our masterpiece,
having left me to find our rhythm,
and having left me singing it all over again,
until I found out I can no longer sing
any song anymore,
for my lips have bled too much
after all those verses
I’ve marked on yours.

AM I REALLY REPLACED?, Poetry by Gelo Franco

AM I REALLY REPLACED?
by Gelo Franco

I WAS SUPERMAN WITH YOU
BUT NOW I’M POWERLESS WITHOUT YOU
YOU WERE MY GIRL
BUT NOW YOU’RE HIS GIRL

YOU WERE MY GIRLFRIEND
HE WAS MY BESTFRIEND
WE WERE A COUPLE
NOW YOU TWO ARE THE COUPLE

YOU’RE STILL HURTING ME
THE PAIN IS KILLING ME
PLEASE STILL LOVE ME
PLEASE COME BACK TO ME

TELL ME THAT YOU STILL WANT ME
TELL ME THAT YOU STILL LOVE ME
TELL ME THAT YOU MISS ME
JUST DON’T REPLACED ME THAT EASILY

YOU BOTH SAID THAT I SHOULDN’T BE JEALOUS
BUT ALL ALONG, I WAS RIGHT TO GET JEALOUS
YOU BOTH LIED TO ME
YOU BOTH BETRAYED ME

I HAVE LOVED YOU FROM THE START
BUT YOU CHOSE TO BE APART
I COULD’VE STICK WITH YOU FOREVER
BUT YOU SAID THE WORDS “ITS OVER”
