Get to know writer Pamela Green:

What is your screenplay about?

This screenplay entails the life of Everett House as he grows up in a poor, Christian home in a Midwest city following the Great Depression, portraying his passion for playing the steel guitar just as his invalid father had, and then, beginning at age 17, portraying Everett’s years in a mental asylum. While in the institution, Everett undergoes shock treatment and other psychiatric practices popular to that era. But through it all, Everett finds God to be his stable source of strength, hope, and deliverance, and he is left with a divine promise concerning his future that his testimony will one day be used to warn mankind of the mark in the forehead.

Why should this screenplay be made into a movie?

This screenplay is a timely warning about the devastating effects of shock treatment from someone who experience it firsthand and who also saw its debilitating effects upon countless others, and warns about the mark in the forehead as foretold in the Book of Revelation. The story also offers people an anchor of hope through Jesus Christ if they will turn to Him.

How would you describe this script in two words?

Divine warning

How long have you been working on this screenplay?

I’ve been working off and on for about seven years on this screenplay, as well as on Part II of it.

Is this a film geared towards the Christian audience?

This film is geared toward all faiths and even Atheists.

How true is this story?

This story is based on the life testimony of my dad, Everett House, with a little improvising done to make the scenes flow. Much of it is word for word from what my dad had told me over the years, and the miracles and divine interventions are true to my dad’s testimony, with the exception of some name changes here and there. Some of the events have also been confirmed to me by the testimony of one of his doctors.

What obstacles did you face to finish this screenplay?

It actually took much longer than I had anticipated. Most of the time I had to use the library’s computer and had to pay for a babysitter and transportation and copies from $25.00 per week that I was able to use toward the movie. I wasted a lot of money making copies of the screenplay prematurely, thinking it was finished.

Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

I love Jesus, the Bible, and church. When I was little I had wished that church was five days a week instead of school. I also love kids and people in general. I love art. I used to draw and paint some. I especially loved drawing faces, but had gotten away from it. Hopefully I will again soon. I also love baking, making crafts, and shopping. I would love to play the saxophone, but never even tried. I love flowers and other beautiful things, and hiking (which I don’t really do now, but hopefully will), and reading, and I love music and animals and cutesy houses. I also believe in prayer and would like to pray more for people to be healed, and maybe do missions work or counseling, and I love to help the homeless.

What influenced you to enter the festival? What were your feelings on the initial feedback you received?

After wondering what I should do next concerning the script, I went to sleep one night and had a dream that a man at a desk was holding my script. In the dream I asked the man if he liked the script. He said, “We loved it.” Then I looked over to the left side of the desk and saw George Clooney sitting there, leaning toward in the desk. He looked at me and asked, “Got any part for me?” So then a while after, when thinking again about what I should do, I remembered the dream and looked up George Clooney on Facebook. I pressed “like” on his page, and then began receiving invitations from his page to enter the WILDsound Film Festival. I still hesitated for a number of months, still a little skeptical, and then I read a prophecy about a sign of a set time to act being the month of the blue moon. But thinking I had until the end of the month I stalled, and then the contest was put on hold for a while. Then a few years later I heard another prophecy about getting another chance and this time don’t drop the ball, and how it would be under the same conditions, so I looked on the calendar and, sure enough, the blue moon was coming up again. So that time I entered.

I was very pleased with the professional, thorough feedback that I received each time from WILDsound Film Festival. I found their wisdom and advice very beneficial in polishing up my writing skills and in pulling together a more smooth-sounding screenplay.

. Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?

When writing, I think it’s best to take your time and do a more thorough job than to speed through the process and make many mistakes and have to go back hundreds of times and make corrections.
