Get to know the winning writer:

What is your screenplay about?

The blizzard of the decades strikes the East Coast. A beautiful girl found raped and beaten on a remote campus. Can a burned out campus cop find the killer and save the remaining students?

What genres does your screenplay under?

Mystery / Thriller

How would you describe this script in two words?

Gothic Mystery

Why should this screenplay be made into a movie?

Hypothermia combines the haunting atmosphere of a Gothic campus with a claustrophobic ‘closed room’ feel of a group of students trapped on campus during a winter storm providing a great settings for a murder mystery with many twists and turns.

What movie have you seen the most times in your life?

Pulp Fiction

How long have you been working on this screenplay?

About a year

How many stories have you written?

Four screenplays and one novel.

What motivated you to write this screenplay?

I enjoy writing and wanted to give the audience something exciting to watch. I realize I’m no Shakespeare but I think I can write pop sugar – something thrilling, capturing and entertaining. That’s what is fun for me and I would be even more thrilled if one of my scripts would make it to the big screen some day.

What obstacles did you face to finish this screenplay?

The first version of the script started off as a mystery and then changed into a thriller. A lot of editors hated the genre flip in the middle of the plot. I needed some time to process the criticism and then decided to rewrite the script as a mystery.

Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

I love watching movies – of course. Action, thrillers, mysteries, and horror.

What influenced you to enter the festival? What were your feelings on the initial feedback you received?

I usually submit to a number of festivals to get feedback and tips on how to improve my scripts. The WildSound Festival feedback was certainly constructive and I will see which parts I can apply to the script.
