ANYONE?
by Robert Valleau

Does anyone see the pain I hide?
Does anyone even care?
Lost again no hope to guide
This hurt I cannot bear.

A chasm of worry doth divide
My soul encased with fear
Who will walk by my side?
To whisper, “I am here.”

Empty tears I have cried
Ending with a stare
No one in which to confide
But God who’s always there.

Selfish Nature, Poetry by Brittny Pesek

Genres: Love, Loss, Happiness, Pain, Heartbreak, and Dealing with Life

Selfish Nature
by Brittny Pesek

Rapping on the window
Whispers your sweet name
Written by the pollen,
Erased by the rain.
Etched in stone is another
Much harder to take from time,
No hurricane could wash it away
And only can stone unbind.
As thunder pounds,
Quakes shake the foundations
Of what is history
And what is just created.

Come pollens of Spring,
Come rains of Summer,
Come stone bashing stone
To send all asunder.
For the time is coming
When all will be shattered.
Time erased;
Bonds broken and battered.

Mother Nature writes each sweet name
Unbeknownst to them it’s all a cheap game.
For she takes what she wants to make herself happy.
Sending the rain, beating the rock,
Crying in pain as each she destroys.
Because happiness is perspective, and perspective we create
Through an eternity of choices to build and then break.

Name Sealed Not, Poetry by Maimuna Muhammad Babangida

Genre: Death, Pain

Name Sealed Not
by Maimuna Muhammad Babangida
.

Name Sealed Not!
Pendulous swing of a burdened mind,
Years gone by with these thoughts,
Courage deserted this lonely heart.

Let the pen dance,
Let the pain pass.

“I think I’m dying!”
you whispered to me softly,
Sounded like Child’s play.

Narrow the thinking was then,
“Come Quick!”

Mouths opened wide, words trapped!
Saw the world ascending through your eyes,
Blank the world turned
Crumbling under your feet.

Eyes, clouded.
Smiles, vanished.
Lips, sealed.
Tears, rushed.
With misty eyes flying.

You are no more!
Sad echoes of a lonely heart,
You bow out with crowded questions,
answered not!

Fresh wounds, healed not.
Are you truly gone?
Can this sad heart be healed?

Tears flow with every breath taken,
Mouths speak mute
Let the pain pass
You faded away so soon
But Your Name Sealed Not!

Brighter Than The Moon
by Gloria Oyewusi

A bed of roses
She imagined life to be
With loads of pleasant surprises
Making her nothing but happy

Like the skies so blue,
So her joy felt true

One day, she opened the door of her apartment
Just to receive a hug from disappointments

Endless tears of sorrow made her pale
As life, she thought, was all fairytale

Gulping down a drink made from peach
She hurried down to the beach

Just for change and some solace
As she did, a wave of comfort greeted her
And a breeze of hope, life and love kissed her face
Making her more than the moon, brighter

Shame seems to be a covering
While Faith and favour go a hiding
Hope, do something
So that life becomes worth living

I don’t seem to understand
I don’t seem to comprehend
What have I done wrong?
Can I make it right?
Oh! How hopeless it all appears to be
No! Faith, I need you to come alive in me

You Couldn’t Hurt Me More, Poetry by Juliette Westbrook-Finch

You Couldn’t Hurt Me More
by Juliette Westbrook-Finch

Dead inside and numb I feel,
what you’ve done was not the deal:
I trusted you, gave all of me;
my heart; my soul; my destiny.

I gave to you, my husband and protector,
I never dreamed you’d reject me and select her,
betraying me after all these years;
feeling a failure, crumbling in tears;
shocked by your disloyalty;
I can’t believe you could do this to me:
you couldn’t hurt me more If you had an oozie nine millimetre –
nothing’s worse than your husband being a liar and a cheater.
